Hidden behind the Taurus Mountains in the Manavgat district, Green Canyon is one of the most unexpected natural landscapes in Türkiye. The reservoir that fills this valley is fed by glacial mountain streams, producing water of an extraordinary emerald green colour that gives the canyon its name. A full day on the water takes you deep into 14 kilometres of Grand Canyon and a further 3 kilometres of the narrower Little Canyon, where the forested mountain walls rise steeply on both sides and the outside world disappears entirely. Swim in the glacier-cold water, watch for the rare brown fish owl in the trees above, and sit down to lunch at a restaurant built on the lake shore with the canyon walls as a backdrop. This is Türkiye's interior at its most dramatic and most serene.
